Privacy Policy
Launch Timer has no accounts, no analytics and no ads. The developer does not collect or store any of your data.
Location, motion and barometer
The app uses your iPhone's GPS, motion sensors and barometer, with your permission, only while it is open, to measure your runs. The readings are processed on the phone and are not sent to the developer.
Your runs
Runs are saved on your iPhone only, unless you post them to the leaderboard. You can delete any run in the app, or all of them by deleting the app.
Leaderboard
Posting is optional and happens only when you tap Post to leaderboard or turn on automatic posting. A post sends, to the Launch Timer server on Cloudflare:
- the run's times and its speed-over-time trace, so the server can check them;
- the car you chose (year, make, model, trim);
- your generated driver name (like “Crimson Falcon 42”) and a random ID made by the app;
- your country, from your iPhone's region setting.
Your location is never sent. The times, car, driver name and country are shown publicly on the leaderboard. To check that posts come from the real app, the app uses Apple's App Attest, which gives the server a device key that doesn't identify you. To remove your results, open an issue with your driver name at the address below.
Car makes and models are looked up from the US NHTSA vehicle database, which receives the make and year you choose and your IP address.
Car screen
When the car page is paired with your phone's 8-character code, the app sends the live speed, g-force, timer and your recent run results to the car's browser through a relay that runs on Cloudflare. The relay only forwards these small messages in real time; it does not record or store them, and nothing is sent while no car page is open. Your location is never sent. Anyone who knows your pairing code could see the same dashboard, so keep it private; you can create a new code in the app at any time.
The car page is served by GitHub Pages, which receives your car browser's IP address when it loads the page, under GitHub's privacy statement. It remembers the pairing code and units in the browser's local storage.
Children
Launch Timer collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
